  • BOM Meeting October 5th
  • 19th October Relationship & Sexuality programme-5th and 6th class-information going home.
  • Howth Deanery form-gone home to 6th class children-return to class teacher. You choose your main school of choice.

All forms come back to the primary school and are then sent to the Howth Deanery Secretary (second level Principal) – forms returned are catalogued and all children applying for the different schools are listed alphabetically.

All lists are sent on the same day to the second levels schools. There is no seniority/priority. Lotteries exist where numbers applying exceed places available.

  • 30th Sept-Peace Day-more information to follow
  • Punctuality-there has been a huge improvement in children’s punctuality in the morning-this makes settling in and teaching so much easier for the teacher and also for the children. The office also can deal with queries and parents rather than having to bring late children to class. Children hate coming in late and take time to settle when this occurs. Keep it up!

Buildings

  • Yard: We are looking at putting tarmac on the front grass area-as the prefabs were not ready it was impossible to do this before school started. Buildings takes up a huge amount of time over the summer for myself and the BOM. It is a large cost to the school but as area is limited the BOM have sanctioned this and it will be in place as an extra play area throughout the year. This will take two weeks to put in place and we are looking at starting a week before midterm and the week of midterm in order for the work to be finished before the children return.
  • The Dept. had the original builders out doing safety checks on the main building before we returned and are resolving any small issues they came across such as broken tiles in bathrooms etc.
  • Carol our Chair and Ronan from the BOM have been attempting to liaise and find out more information about our new school and they are chasing both the architect and the Dept. for more info at the moment and will hopefully have an update before midterm regarding progress. This is very frustrating that we are still stuck at this stage of progression.
  • Violin-2nd – 6th class-children are starting violin this week with Jessica. They will have 30 minutes lesson this year as there are more classes and also it was felt that the 45 min class was a little too long.
  • Swimming-we are working on trying to get dates for swimming for 4th-6th class again this year and at the same cheap price as last year without having to use transport-they will have a six week block-I will let you know once we have this finalised. Aquatics is part of the PE curriculum.
  • Student Elections– All students will vote on Monday for the new President and Student Council. Students will continue to campaign during the week and will visit classes/yard.
  • Tamangoes Parent council fundraiser and social night. All Belmayne ET parents/guardians/friends welcome (not regular public nightclub night but adults only) Oct 7th at 9.30pm €10 entry. Tickets available from PC or Johanne (Home school) or at door. Class with most parents/guardians present on the night will be rewarded with a night off homework!
  • Choir All new and old members from 3rd -6th class come to meet Fiona in Viv’s prefab, Monday 26th at 2.20-3.20.
