A History of Our School

Belmayne Educate Together National School (ETNS) opened its doors in September 2008, thanks to the efforts of a dedicated parent start-up group that secured a temporary site along the Mayne River in Belmayne. The founding staff included Principal Sinéad Ní Mheara and Deputy Principal Fiona Ní Ghloinn. In its second year, the school expanded with additional teachers, including Joe Kavanagh, Gearóid Ó Flathartha, and Viv Gaynor.

As an equality-based, co-educational, democratically-run, and child-centred institution, Belmayne ETNS operates under the patronage of Educate Together and follows the National Curriculum. The school offers various voluntary after-school clubs catering to diverse interests, from physical health to IT skills.

In term 3 of the 2018/19 school year, students and staff made the short trip from our temporary building to a brand new and permanent facility. In 2024/25, the school had an enrolment of 206 boys and 212 girls, reflecting its commitment to providing inclusive education to the community.

Over the years, Belmayne ETNS has grown and evolved, maintaining its dedication to fostering a welcoming environment where every pupil feels valued and engaged in their learning journey.
